How did the scientist change the society’s view of smoking after 1960

In the late 20th century, after performing experiments and collected evidences, scientists have shown that the chemicals contained in the cigarette can cause number of diseases in the long run. In later years, there were increased cases of lung diseases and lung cancer, where it was believed it as a rare disease. After 1960 scientists declared that tobacco present in the cigarette is the reason for cancer.
