Open your computer's print queue (search "Printers & Scanners" in Windows, or go to "System Settings" > "Printers & Scanners" on macOS, then click on your printer to view its queue). Locate your Brother printer, click to open its print queue, and cancel all pending print jobs. Sometimes, a corrupted or very large print job can prevent the printer from returning to its default ready state. After clearing the queue, restart both the printer and your computer.
