A hard reset might sometimes help. Power off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet. Wait for about 5-10 minutes. Then, press and hold the power button while plugging the printer back in. Continue holding the power button for another 10-15 seconds. This might reset the printer's memory and clear the error. Note: this may not always work for hardware errors.
