How can I try to reset the printer after receiving Error 79?

A hard reset can sometimes temporarily resolve the issue. Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer *and* the wall outlet. Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and turn the printer on. This doesn't fix the underlying problem, but may allow for a temporary operation.
